Global financial crisis hurts poor the most
Most of us in the global North are concerned about our houses and retirement funds due to the global financial crisis. It is understandable, and I nothing I write here is any way diminishes the impact of having everything you have worked for in your life coming tumbling down. But most of us are lucky enough to still be able to put food on our table and get the medical help we need... most of us. Those in the global South are going to be hurt even more by this, as they find themselves unable to provide food for their family and pay for even basic medical care. This is something that should concern us all. If the past decade has taught us nothing else, it has shown us that the lives of others in the world are intimately connected to ours and deserve our attention.
